Peti Clements (Alabama, 1911-1999) Black Americana folk art acrylic on canvas painting titled "The Gin" and depicting African American agricultural workers picking cotton in a field, with a child and a dog in the foreground and a cotton gin at upper right, 1984. Signed "Peti Clements" lower left. Additionally signed, dated, and titled en verso. Housed in a wooden frame with tan linen liner and wooden fillet. Sight: 7 1/2" H x 9 1/2" W. Framed: 13" H x 15" W. Biographical Note: Peti Clements was a female folk artist raised on a rural Alabama farm and many of her paintings depict scenes of her early, everyday life. Her work is represented in the permanent collection of the Tennessee Valley Art Museum, Tuscumbia, AL.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition. With minor surface grime.
