Three (3) religious gothic oil paintings on panel after Fra Angelico.1st item: Giltwood triptych attributed to Gustavo Sani Copio, depicting a crowned Madonna and Child in the central panel and flanked by two angels playing trumpets. All are attired in ornate clothing, with incised decoration. Housed in a double columnated gothic style frame with hinged doors, arches, and carved decoration. Open: 14" W x 24" H. Closed: 9 1/4" W x 24" H x 2 1/4" D. 2nd-3rd items: Pair of oil on panel icon paintings attributed to Signor Gustavo San, 1924, after Fra Angelico's "Madonna and Child" tabernacle (housed in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence Italy). Panels depict two winged angels with halos attired in ornate garments and playing trumpets on a gilt background. Unsigned. Attribution on label en verso. Housed in double columnated giltwood gothic style frames with arches and carved decoration. Sights: 4 1/2" W x 12 1/4" H. Framed: 8 3/4" W x 26" H x 2.5" D.
PROVENANCE: The collection of a Tennessee institution.
CONDITION: 1st item: Overall good condition with some wear to frame including loose elements. The decoration flanking the central arch has been reattached. 2nd-3rd items: Overall good condition. Some paint loss and flaking to painting of angel with dark robe, especially in lower half. Some cracking to panel of angel with red robe on the right hand side. Overall wear and cracking to frames, parts of frames have some regilding.
