Two (2) Peti Clements (Alabama, 1911-1999) Black Americana folk art acrylic on canvas laid to board paintings housed in simple wood frames. Item 1: Painting titled "Blind Man's Bluff" depicting school children playing various games at recess with a cat lower left corner. Signed lower left and additionally titled, signed, and dated 1982 en verso. With artist's original "Petites by Peti" sticker affixed to backing. Sight: 7 1/2" H x 9 1/4" W, Framed: 10 3/4" H x 12 3/4" W. Item 2: Painting titled "Almost Persuaded" depicting figures swimming in a pond while other figures stand nearby and observe. Signed lower left and additionally titled, signed, and dated 1983 en verso. Sight: 2 7/8" H x 11 5/8" W, Framed: 4 1/2" H x 13 1/4" W. Biographical Note: Peti Clements was a female folk artist raised on a rural Alabama farm and many of her paintings depict scenes of her early, everyday life. Her work is represented in the permanent collection of the Tennessee Valley Art Museum, Tuscumbia, AL.
