Late 18th century, probably European, miniature watercolor portrait depicting a young woman with light reddish brown hair, wearing a pink hair ribbon and pale pink dress, against a light grey-green background. Housed under glass in an oval gold frame with blue guilloche enamel surrounding a hairwork reserve set with seed pearl monogram (HC?). Gold frame stamped "30" en verso and tests 10K. Overall (excluding hanger): 2 1/2" H x 2" W.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Raymond White, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Portrait excellent condition. Some possible staining to interior enamel, lower quarter (part of the enamel appears slightly darker in one section than in others). Small area of discoloration to bezel. Area of hairwork detached but in place.
