North Carolina, Catawba Valley, 7-gallon alkaline glaze pottery storage jar, having a slightly rolled rim, five incised concentric lines above the lug handles, stamped on one handle "DS" for Daniel Seagle (1805-1867) and "7" on one handle denoting capacity. 16 5/8" H x 13 1/2" dia. Provenance: Private Southern Collection. CONDITION: Minute chiping to the edge of one handle, chip to the underside of the rim, approx. 1/2". 1/4" chip to edge of rim.
