Two Thomas Campbell (Tennessee, 1834-1914), paintings of European figures. 1st item: Oil on canvas of a figure study of a young girl holding a pad with pencil sketch of a building at top left. Unsigned. Heavily carved gilt frame. Good condition with one small scratch on girl's skirt. Sight: 13 1/2" h x 10 1/2: W, Framed: 22 3/4" H x 20" W. 2nd item: Watercolor on board of a group of women washing clothes in city fountain. Signed in pencil at lower left, "At Siena, Sat'y, 30 Mar '95". Good condition. Plain black frame. Sight: 4 3/4" H x 8 1/4" W, Framed: 9" H x 12" W. Note: (courtesy of AskART) Campbell traveled in Europe and painted detailed renderings of figures and architecture. Provenance: Knoxville, TN collection, descended through the Bamberg estate, family of Thomas Campbell's second wife.
