Sheraton mahogany work or writing table, mahogany and mahogany veneers with white pine secondary wood. Features two drawers, each with figured veneer and two round brass pulls (original), the top drawer with baize covered lift top writing surface and dividers for ink bottles. Ring turned "cookie" corner posts over spiral legs ending in ring and ball feet. 29"H x 21-1/2" W x 19" D. American, possibly Boston, circa 1810. Provenance: the estate of Margaret Wemyss Connor, Nashville, Tennessee. Condition: Original pulls exhibit oxidation, one knob is missing, small narrow area of loss to table's right front post, some light worm damage to bottom drawer. Old refinishing.
