Pair of framed oil on copper miniature portraits, possibly English or Scottish, including one (1) depicting a dark haired gentleman seated in a red chair with his right arm resting on a desk with a stack of books, and one (1) depicting a dark haired lady attired in a black dress and white lace bonnet, seated in a red chair with a partial landscape view in the background. Both initialed lower left "CB", the female portrait is additionally dated "1833". Both housed in ebonized frames with brass thistle hangers. Sight: 4 1/2" H x 3 3/4" W. Framed: 7 1/4" H x 6 1/4" W.
PROVENANCE: Private Knoxville, TN collection.
CONDITION: Both overall good condition, female portrait with minor losses along the upper margin, very slight rubbing to perimeters of both.
