Miniature watercolor portrait titled JOHN WATSON ~ TAKEN 1837 AGE 8 YEARS, depicting the profile of a young boy in a chair, holding a toy ship. Unsigned. Housed in a rectangular gold frame. 3" H x 2 3/4" W. Likely 20th century.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Raymond White, Nashville, Tennessee. By oral history, this was acquired from collector Edward Grosvenor Paine.
CONDITION: Overall excellent condition. A couple of fine, tiny spots to subject's hand and a couple of miniscule light flecks to hair area.
