Angel Espoy (United States/California, 1879-1963) oil on canvas seascape painting depicting crashing surf into a rocky shoreline at sunset. Signed lower right. Housed in a blue painted carved wooden frame. Sight – 24 1/2" H x 29 1/2" W. Framed – 30 3/4" H x 35 1/2" W. Biography: Known for paintings that evidence his great love of the sea, Angel Espoy did work that includes seascapes and maritime subjects; however, he was also an accomplished painter of California's rolling hills of poppies and lupines. (source: AskArt). CONDITION: Light overall grime. Scattered vertical and horizontal crackle, most noticeably upper left quadrant. Damage back of upper left corner, later added blue paint to the frame.
