English Regency inlaid mahogany sideboard with mahogany veneers, oak and pine secondary. Comprised of a gallery flanked by two side drawers and carved fluted panels, atop a bowfront base with long center drawer, right side with cabinet door and left side with a removable tray above a deep drawer, both flanked with carved fluted stiles, all resting on tapered Hepplewhite legs ending in spade feet. Dovetailed drawers feature finely grained mahogany veneers, accented with cross-banding and bands of string and chevron inlay throughout. 44 1/4" H x 82 1/4" W x 23 3/4" D. 19th century. Provenance: the estate of William (Bill) Pursell, Nashville, Tennessee. Mr. Pursell was Grammy nominated composer and musician who lived with his late wife, Julie, a longtime journalist and editor of the Banner Lifestyles department, for many years on Curtiswood Lane, next door to the Tennessee Governor's Mansion.
CONDITION: Overall general wear consistent with use. Older surface with scattered minor losses and repairs to veneer and scattered scratching. Gallery left panel loose. Right side door is locked; no key present. A couple of repaired breaks to legs.
