Large North Carolina stoneware pottery jar by N. H. Dixon (Nathaniel H. Dixon, 1827-1863), stamped "N H DIXON " below the rim. Profuse salt drips around rim area with three distinct bands of incised lines at the upper shoulder, midsection, and lower section (similar pattern to Himer Fox (1826-1905)). Large lug handles and a rolled rim with a tapered edge. Descended from the family of the potter. 15 1/4" H. Mid 19th century . CONDITION: Scattered chipping/losses to rim. Firing flaw to side.
