Charles B.J. Fevret de Saint Memin (French, 1770-1852), miniature circular mezzotint and engraved portrait of Baltimore judge and state senator Elias Glenn (1769-1846), depicted in profile at middle age wearing a coat and ruffled white shirt. Circa 1803. House in a molded giltwood frame. Portrait: 2" diameter. Frame: 4" H x 4" W. Provenance: Purchased from Kennedy Galleries, New York, 1990 (which also handled the sale of the large original pastel portrait of Glenn at about the same time); exhibited, Cheekwood Museum of Art, Nashville, 1995. Another version of this miniature printed portrait is in the collection of the National Gallery of Art.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Raymond White, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Portrait has light toning and appears to be trimmed to plate and glued to a wove paper support. Some wear and blistering to gilt surface of frame.
