New England late Federal game or card table, manner of Samuel McIntire of Salem, Massachusetts, mahogany primary, white pine secondary. Comprised of a fold-over hinged serpentine top with rounded projecting corners, front skirt decorated at the center with a carved basket of flowers motif, palmette and acanthus carved and spiral turned legs terminating in spike feet and a rear carved swing leg support. 29" H x 35 5/8" W x 34 1/4" D (when fully opened). Early 19th century.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Patricia Kiegel, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Very good refinished condition with polished wax surface. Top with wood shrinkage and expected general wear. Front skirt with a couple of minor veneer breaks/loss (one to the left of the basket carving and one to the right skirt edge). Underside of top appears to have been refinished as well.
