Southern Sheraton work table or two drawer stand. Cherry primary, poplar secondary wood, rectangular overhang top over two dovetailed drawers with scratch bead edges, round wooden pulls, locks and inset brass keyhole escutcheon, resting on four turned and tapered legs. 29 1/4" H x 24 1/2" W x 17 5/8" D. Probably Middle Tennessee, 2nd quarter 19th century.
PROVENANCE: The collection of Byrd and Rear Admiral Jerry Breast, Nashville, TN.
CONDITION: Good overall condition with older refinish. Slightly bowed top with visible nail holes, with old patch repair left edge 2" x 1 1/2" and shrinkage crack to top. Right side panel with shrinkage crack. Light surface abrasion and scratches throughout.
