Bentwood arm chair, designed by J. & J. Kohn, cane seat. "J. & J. Kohn" label adhered to front, underside of seat. Overall good condition. 35" H X 17" W X 17 1/2" D. Austria, late 19th to early 20th century. J & J. Kohn was founded by Jacob and Josef Kohn, who in 1867 began a successful campaign to dispute Thonet's patent for the production of bentwood furniture. Exhibited in 1991 at the Knoxville Museum of Art. Deaccessioned by Knoxville Museum of Art to benefit the acquisitions fund.
