19th-century French Louis XV style Provincial fauteuil en confessional or rococo style armchair, generously proportioned. Molded hand-carved walnut frame with shell and acanthus leaf decoration and cabriole legs. The chair is upholstered in a scenic Aubusson tapestry. 42" H x 31" W x 21" D. Note: The Fauteuil en Confessional was the French 18th-century precursor to the wing chair.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Pia Stratton, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: The chair is in very good condition with minor repairs to the frame. The tapestry is intact with the exception of fraying around one of the arms where it meets the seat.
