Kentucky cobalt decorated stoneware pottery jar with rounded lug handles, cylindrical form. Cobalt decoration with three rows of floral sprigs separated by two cobalt dash chain borders. Stamped "3" mark having interior line and dot scoring and denotes gallon capacity. Attributed to James H. Miller (1814-1896), Brandenburg, KY. 12 1/4"H. Third quarter of the 19th century. Provenance – Lexington, Kentucky area collection. Condition: Minor chips to inside rim, discoloration on upper body from possible grease absorption, base with differing color to underside base border. Blacklighting does not indicate restoration.
