Federal Sheraton work table, attributed to Salem, Massachusetts. Mahogany and figured mahogany veneers with white pine secondary wood. Two drawer table with slightly rectangular top and rounded corners, each having star-punched decoration centered by a carved, four-petal flower. Rope-twist turned and tapered legs, ending in ball feet. Front features two blind dovetailed drawers, each with two pressed brass rosette knobs. Plain sides. Top drawer has fitted interior for sewing or writing/drawing materials; both drawers have brass escutcheons. 29-1/2"H x 22"W x 19-1/2"D. Condition: Original finish with dark varnish and cracquelure except on the top, which may have been polished or refinished some time ago, but retains a desirable dark color. Full break to front right leg with long-ago amateur repair. Full separation crack to top, and smaller shrinkage cracks to sides and back. Top has some scratches (1/1-2 to 2" longest). Some scattered wear and abrasions to legs. Knobs are likely original. Lacks key.
