Middle or West Tennessee stoneware pottery jar with two sine wave bands around shoulder and four incised lines around the neck and shoulder, incised "4" just below the neck denoting gallon capacity, extruded strap handles and an incised vertical inscription on upper midsection reading "W. J. Morris, His Jug". Late 19th/Early 20th century. 16 3/4" H. Provenance – Lexington, Kentucky area collection. Condition: Bung marks noted to one side. Overall very good condition.
