Asian gilt bronze Gautama Buddha seated in dhyanasana position wearing a crown with his right hand raised and left hand in his lap, elongated earlobes, and adorned with a full-length robe, necklace, Ushnisha, and five-pointed crown with lotus or foliate blossoms at his sides. Traces of gilt and pigment visible to the back of robe. Contemporary black wood stand included. 10 1/2" H x 7 1/8" W x 5 3/8" D. 17th century. Provenance: Collection of Thomas M. Alexander, Greeneville, TN, former U.S. Army Captain Airborne/Special Forces during the Late 1960s/Early 1970s in Vietnam. He became a Central Intelligence Agency Field Officer in Southeast Asia, beginning in the Early 1970s until his retirement in 1994.

CONDITION: Overall oxidation, wear, and loss of gilt due to age. Losses at two points of crown, two fingers of one hand, and one foliate blossom. Areas of loss in bronze, largest at the figure's foot measuring 1" x 1/4". Old repair to back, measuring 3/4" x 1 7/8".
