Adrien Joseph Verhoeven-Ball (Belgian, 1824-1882) oil on canvas sottobosco still life painting depicting a forest floor in the style of Rachel Ruysch (1664-1750). Tulips, roses and other flowers adorn a tree stump, a basket, and a gold and white porcelain urn set beside a rock. Signed with monogram lower right and signature or inscription en verso. Black painted frame with gilt sight and edge moldings. Sight: 36 in. W x 24 in. H. Frame: 45 in. W x 25 in. H.
PROVENANCE: Private Southern estate.
CONDITION: Overall good condition, lined, with light grime and fine craquelure throughout. Appears to have been fairly recently cleaned and revarnished. Some wear to frame.
