Religious gothic oil painting on panel after Fra Angelico (Italian, 1395-1455), depicting an angel with incised rays around the head that expand outward in a sun-like manner, standing and holding a trumpet. Housed in a carved gilt double columnated gothic-style frame with arches and carved decoration. Sight: 15 3/8" H x 6" W. Framed: 28 1/4" H x 10" W. Late 19th/Early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: The Collection of Griff and Dallas Adams, Johnson City, Tennessee. Property descending from the collection of TN Supreme Court Justice Thaddeus Cox and Pearl Cox, originally housed in "The Oaks", Johnson City, TN.
CONDITION: Angel painting on panel overall good condition with a couple areas with very light craquelure. Frame with repairs to the top spire, gilding repaint/repair on arch and surrounds of frame.
