East Tennessee or Southwest Virginia Sheraton low table or sugar table, walnut primary, poplar secondary. Comprised of a rectangular, overhanging top over one long, finely wedged dovetailed drawer, having the original metal escutcheon plate and wooden pulls; turned and tapered legs terminating in ring and spike feet. 27 3/4" H x 36" W x 20 3/4" D. Possibly Sullivan County, TN or Washington County, VA. 2nd Qtr. 19th century. Provenance: Brad Swanson Collection, Abingdon, VA. CONDITION: Old, possibly original surface with traces of green paint to side stiles and drawer interior, as well a few older drill holes. One ring turning of foot has losses. Some age cracks to wood on the top, stains and wear, surface alligatoring.
