1st item: English Regency double compartment tortoiseshell tea caddy, comprised of a casket shaped top, sterling silver nameplate and line inlay to the top and base, bone inlay to lid edge, top base edge, and bone ball feet. The top interior lined with red satin, the inner compartments with mother of pearl knobs, the base with silver escutcheon. 5 3/4" H x 8 1/2" W x 4 5/8" D. 2nd item: English Regency tortoiseshell box with line inlay to the shaped top, the divided interior lined with red velvet, and the base with silver escutcheon. 1 3/4" H x 5" W x 3 1/4" D. 3rd & 4th items: Two (2) English tortoiseshell card holders, both with sterling silver nameplates, silver and bone line inlay, and hinged tops. 3 5/8" H x 2 5/8" W. All items 19th century.
PROVENANCE: Private Chattanooga, TN collection.
CONDITION: 1st item: Overall good condition. Losses and wear to all corners, some hairlines to lid, body and base edge. 2nd item: Losses and wear to corners, fading to interior velvet, slight losses around hinges, otherwise overall good condition. 3rd & 4th items: Darker holder with loss to silver line inlay along one edge and wear to interior liner. Lighter holder in overall good condition with expected wear.
