Three (3) Oliver Clare (United Kingdom, 1853-1927) oil on canvas still life paintings. 1st item: Still life depicting a bird's nest containing three blue eggs surrounded by foliage, including pink and purple flowers, with an additional blue egg on the ground. Signed "Oliver Clare" lower right. Housed in a pierced giltwood frame with rosettes to flourish corners. Sight: 9 1/2" H x 11 1/2" W. Framed: 14" H x 16 1/4" W. 2nd-3rd items: Pair of two (2) still lives depicting fruit, including berries and grapes, amid naturalistic settings. Both pieces signed "Oliver Clare" lower right (one slightly obscured by frame). Both housed in matching pierced giltwood frames with rosettes to flourish corners. Sights: 8 1/4" H x 6 1/4" W. Frames: 13 1/8" H x 11 1/8" W.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Pia Stratton, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: 1st item: Minor wear to upper right edge, measuring approximately 4" L. Patch repair evident, en verso, measuring 1 1/4" x 1 1/8" with smaller area of corresponding inpainting. 2nd-3rd items: Both pieces with minor scattered craquelure. Painting of grape bunches and raspberries has been lined. Other painting with minute hole to upper left quadrant, measuring 1/8" x 1/8".
