Dedrick Stuber (California, 1878-1954) oil on canvas impressionist marine painting depicting a harbor scene with two sailboats and a fishing boat, foreground, with additional ships moored at the harbor of a large city, middle and background. Signed "Stuber" lower right. Housed in a carved gilt wood frame. Sight – 19 3/4" H x 23 1/2" W. Framed – 28" H x 31 3/4" W. Provenance: Property of a private Alabama collection. Biography (courtesy AskArt: The Artists' Bluebook): "Known primarily as a California landscape painter of pastoral scenes, Dedrick Stuber also painted marine and mountain views. He was born in New York City and studied at the Art Students League, and with Julian Onderdonk and Clinton Peters. By 1920, he had moved to California, settling in Los Angeles and exhibiting his work there through 1940. He was a member of the Painters and Sculptors of Los Angeles and the Laguna Beach Art Association, and his work is in the Pasadena Art Museum". CONDITION: Overall very good condition with 2 minor areas of inpainting at top left corner and bottom right corner, largest 3/8"L. evident with black light.
