Tennessee Biscuit Table (also referred to as a Biscuit Rock or Biscuit Block), oak or chestnut with poplar secondary wood. Hinged lid opens to reveal a polished limestone or marble work surface, over a frieze with one dovetailed drawer, and turned tapering legs ending in turnip feet. Condition: Refinished with traces of old green paint, some cracks to lid, overall excellent condition with original lid and hinges. 37" H x 25 1/4" W x 23 1/4 D. Middle Tennessee, probably late 19th century. Deaccessioned by Historic Belle Meade Plantation, proceeds to benefit the restoration of the collection. Exhibited in the Kitchen for several years.
