Spanish Colonial Cuzco School oil on canvas painting of a saint, possibly Saint John or Saint Matthew, wearing a gilt foliate embroidered robe, seated at a table and gazing upward at three males seated on thrones with an ornate monstrance and book on the table, his left hand holding a quill with a halo visible around his head. Unframed. 30 1/4″ H x 25 1/2″ W. 18th century.
PROVENANCE: Ex-Phillapotis Estate.
CONDITION: Painting laid on a woven substrate and fitted with new stretchers. Overall light grime, three patches en verso, overall light craquelure, and scattered abrasions and losses.
