Item 1: Color etching and aquatint with hand coloring, “Miroir de Venise.” A woman in a blue and pink dress sits before a large mirror in an interior setting. With hand coloring, including to lips. Pencil signed and titled to lower margin. With artist’s windmill blindstamp to lower left margin and printed text to upper left margin that reads: “Copyright 1937 by L. Icart Sty, N.Y.” Housed under acrylic in a silvered and ebonized wood frame with tan mat. Sight: 24 in. H x 19 3/4 in. W. Framed: 34 in. H x 27 in. W. 1937. Item 2: Untitled etching, one plate from Jean de la Fontaine’s Les Amours de Psyche et de Cupidon with illustrations by Icart. Cupid, nude, embraces Psyche, with a bow and arrow at lower left. Unsigned. Housed under glass in an ebonized wood frame with cream mat. Sight: 10 1/2 in. H x 6 7/8 in. W. Framed: 17 in. H x 12 7/8 in. W.
PROVENANCE: The estate of Robert Estrin, Nashville, TN.
CONDITION: Both items in overal very good condition. First item an excellent, richly inked and vividly colored impression. Not examined out of frames. First item’s frame with minor abrasions and losses.
