Oil on board painting by Robert Mann (British, active 1869-1892) plus artist’s travel case with easel. The wood-framed painting depicts a man fishing before a riverside mill and is signed Robert Mann, bottom right. It is accompanied by a Victorian wooden artist’s travel box with collapsible easel, drawer for storage of art supplies and leather handle. Late 19th to early 20th century. Painting: Sight: 9 in. H x 12 3/4 L. Framed: 13 in. H x 15 in. L. Note: Mann was a prolific artist from Birmingham, England, and exhibited at the Royal Society of Arts in Birmingham in the 1880’s.
PROVENANCE: The estate of Dr. Ian M. Mathison, Murfreesboro TN and Big Rapids, MI.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition. Some light grime and inclusions to sky area on painting. Box with light wear and some paint stains.
