Oil on canvas tropical landscape painting. Exotic birds stand in a shallow pool at the base of a mountain, surrounded by lush foliage and palm trees, as the sunset casts a warm pink glow in the sky. Unsigned. Housed in the original late 19th century giltwood and composition frame with ornate floral, leaf and beaded moldings. Sight: 25 1/4 in. H x 17 1/2 in. W. Frame: 33 in. H x 25 in. W. American, late 19th century/early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: The collection of Mr. and Mrs. David Allen, Springfield, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Overall good condition. Some light grime and inclusions upper left, sky area. A small area of exfoliation along lower center edge, with some tiny flakes. Frame has a few areas of repaired molding (notably upper left sight edge) and a few scattered small losses.
