Sixth plate size tintype or ferrotype of Chyle L. Farris (Faris) who served for the Union during the Civil War in Company K of the Seventh Kentucky Calvary, shown in uniform with his sword with gilt highlights. His pension record shows he was wounded in the right testicle from a pistol gunshot and the left foot in 1863. His record also shows he spent three months in Andersonville prison and was still suffering from diarrhea systems acquired from the camp into 1864. Despite his wounds, he went on to father eight children. Housed in a carved gutta percha case. Overall Case – 4 7/8" H x 4" W. Condition: Ferrotype overall very good condition. Loose hinges to case.
