Elaborate vine-inlaid walnut tall case clock, Maysville, Kentucky history; vine and leaf inlay pattern similar to the Shinnston, West Virginia cabinetmaking group. Bonnet with vine inlaid broken arch pediment molding, terminating in rosettes with four inlaid petals, hood columns with line inlay, upper waist ogee molding over a figured walnut panel with vine inlay terminating in a tri-leaf design on stiles, waist door stiles with chamfered corners having vine and leaf inlay. Waist door with figured walnut and cut corner line inlay and kite inlaid escutcheon, scratch beaded edge. Lower ogee molding transitions to base section having a figured walnut panel with cut corner line inlay, inlaid stiles beginning with a tri-leaf flower and undulating vine, all enclosed by an oval line inlay, case supported by ring turned feet. Painted wooden masonic dial with works. 94"H x 17 1/2"W x 12 3/4"D. Second quarter of the 19th century, Kentucky or West Virginia. Provenance – Lexington, Kentucky area collection. Condition: Older refinished surface, the clock dial and works are replacements, rear bonnet columns missing, central pediment missing, lock to waist door not present.
