Two (2) Mid-Atlantic miniature mahogany chests. 1st item: Mid-Atlantic Classical miniature chest, mahogany primary, white pine and poplar secondary. Comprised of an overhanging top drawer with bone escutcheon, over three graduated drawers flanked by reeded stiles, over a plain plinth base raised on bun feet. All drawers dovetailed, with round wood pulls. 16 7/8" H x 17 7/8" W x 10 3/8" D. 2nd item: Mid-Atlantic Classical miniature chest, mahogany veneer and white pine primary, poplar secondary. Comprised of an overhanging top drawer with brass escutcheon over three graduated drawers flanked by fully turned tapering columns, over a plain skirt and bun feet. All drawers dovetailed with brass pulls. 15" H x 13" W x 7 7/8" D. Both chests American, circa 1830-1840. Provenance: Estate of Martha Lyman, Dayton, TN. CONDITION: 1st item: Older refinish, loss to rear right side lower edge and mid right side lower case, light general wear. 2nd item: Older refinish, light general wear, minute losses to some drawer edges.
