Coin silver soup or punch ladle, double swell fiddle tipt handle inscribed "Annie from Mama," mark on underside of handle "Merriman" (James Merriman, working Memphis 1841-1860 and later, according to Tennessee Silversmiths by Benjamin H. Caldwell Jr., see p. 128 for similar mark). 12"L, 5 oz troy. Circa 1860. Provenance: direct descendants of first Tennessee governor John Sevier (1745-1815). Condition: Some slight minor pitting and scratching to bowl; overall excellent condition.
