Twenty-six (26) sterling silver table items, including compotes, candlesticks, and coasters. 1st-16th items: Sixteen (16) weighted sterling silver pieces, including one (1) Gorham compote with pierced and gadrooned edge, stamped with maker's mark and 128 to underside; two (2) Shreve & Co. compotes, stamped with maker's mark and 8037 to undersides; four (4) Gorham candlesticks with graduated line decoration to bases and urn shaped bodies, stamped with maker's mark and 659 to undersides; two (2) Hamilton candlesticks with gadrooning to bases, stamped with maker's mark to undersides; two (2) Matthews Co. candlesticks with goblet-shaped bobeches, stamped with maker's mark and 130 to undersides; two (2) Crown candlesticks with gadrooning to bases, stamped with maker's mark to undersides; one (1) La Pierre candlestick with urn shaped upper body, stamped with maker's mark and 341 to underside; and two (2) square candlesticks with segmented body, stamped 555 to underside. All items stamped STERLING. Ranging in size from 2 5/8" H x 3" dia. to 10 1/8" H x 6 5/8" dia. 17th-26th items: Ten (10) Webster sterling silver and glass coasters, including eight (8) with pierced rim and six-pointed etched star and two (2) with pierced rim and twelve-pointed cut star along with holder having pierced handle and stamped with maker's mark and STERLING to underside. Coasters: 3 1/8" dia. Overall: 3" H x 3 1/4" dia. All items American, 20th century. Provenance: The collection of Gary Glesser of Loudon, Tennessee, by descent from his grandparents, Captain Hoyt and Rachel Holton of Toledo, Ohio. Hoyt Holton became, at age 17, the youngest captain of a Great Lakes Freighter. In the 1960s, Captain Holton participated in a 26-day Admiral Byrd Society trip replicating the explorer's famous transpolar expedition, during which he met the Pope and Soviet Premier Nikita Kruschev. Many items in the collection were brought back as souvenirs from that journey and other frequent voyages.
