Southern, likely KY, walnut blanket chest on stand. Secondary woods include poplar, walnut, and other unidentified soft woods. Upper case comprised of a hinged rectangular chest with dovetailed sides and interior till. Base with wide flat mid-molding over one large dovetailed drawer with wooden pulls and tall bold Sheraton turned legs. 37 1/2" H x 42 3/4" W x 20 5/8" D. Possibly Kentucky, second quarter of the 19th century.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Donley and Eunice Hill, Andersonville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Refinished, overall very good condition with wear consistent with general use. Thin replaced strip of wood near hinges. Evidence of original strap hinges now replaced by brass hinges and brass lid hinge.
