Assembled group of five (5) Shaker or Shaker style ladderback or slat chairs, including one (1) mixed woods Shaker-style ladderback armchair with round finials, shaped arms, turned stiles, and rush seat having a history from Russellville, Kentucky; one (1) maple slat back side chair with splint oak seat from Union Villiage (OH); one (1) Shaker child's chair from Pleasant Hill (KY); and two (2) Shaker-style ladderback or slat chairs, likely KY. Ranging in size from 31 1/2" H x 16 1/8" W x 13 1/4" D to 36 5/8" H x 24" W x 16 1/4" D. Second quarter of 19th century. All five are from the greater Ohio Valley area, normally called "Western" rather than "Southern" in the literature about Shaker colonies.
PROVENANCE: The Collection of Richard H. and Kathleen L. Hulan.
CONDITION: All in overall good condition with general wear consitent with manner of use. Seats with minor staining and use wear.
