Thirty (30) assorted sterling silver items, 31 items total, including Danish Art Nouveau, Navajo, designer brooches, and enameled flatware and jewelry pieces. 1st-2nd items: Two (2) Danish Art Nouveau items, including one (1) Georg Jensen compote with foliate forms to stem and lobed, decagonal base with ball accents, stamped with "Denmark" and "12 D" to underside (2 3/8" H x 5 1/8" W x 3 7/8" D); and one (1) Hans Hansen oval bowl with flared sides and incised line design, stamped with "Denmark", "446" and "Anno 1952" (2 1/4" H x 5 1/2" W x 3 1/4" D). Both items second half of 20th century. 3rd item: Navajo ring box with repousse foliate forms and hinged lid on four bracket feet, stamped "Navajo" with pictorial maker's mark to underside. 1 1/8" H x 2 5/8" H x 2 1/8" D. 20th century. 4th item: Damaso Gallegos brooch with holly bunch, leaves, and three suspended bells, stamped "Taxco". 3" H x 1 7/8" W. Mexican, 20th century. 5th-10th items: Six (6) brooches, including one (1) Carl-Art Inc. with wooden branch and sterling acorns, leaves, and bird; one (1) Stuart NYE leaf form; two (2) Joseph A. Skinger pieces, 1 encircled leaf form and 1 asterisk form; one (1) Uncas Manufacturing Company sterling rimmed green stone; and one (1) pierced with star and crescent accents. Ranging in size from 1 1/4" H x 1" W to 2 7/8/" H x 2 3/4" W. American, 20th century. 11th item: Pair of circular screwback earrings with small central green stone to each. 5/8" dia. American, 20th century. 12th-20th items: Nine (9) enamel decorated flatware pieces, including four (4) forks and four (4) spoons, marked Sterling or better, by various makers; and one (1) spoon with twist handle and openwork end, unmarked. Ranging in size from 3 7/8" L to 6 1/4" L. 21st-26th items: Six (6) Norwegian jewelry items, including two (2) brooches, one (1) pair leaf earrings, one (1) single bird earring, and one (1) bracelet and one (1) matching cufflink with ship and elk scenes. All marked Norway Sterling 925. Ranging in size from 1 1/4" L to 7" L. 27th-30th items: Four (4) jewelry pieces, including one (1) crucifix necklace, one (1) small oval brooch, one (1) brooch or pin, and one (1) heart pendant. All stamped "Sterling" or "925" or "930", or test Sterling with exception of twist handle spoon. Ranging in size from 1/2" H to 15" L plus 2 3/4" H cross pendant. Combined weight: 12.560 total weighable troy ounces. Provenance: The collection of Gary Glesser of Loudon, Tennessee, by descent from his grandparents, Captain Hoyt and Rachel Holton of Toledo, Ohio. Hoyt Holton became, at age 17, the youngest captain of a Great Lakes Freighter. In the 1960s, Captain Holton participated in a 26-day Admiral Byrd Society trip replicating the explorer's famous transpolar expedition, during which he met the Pope and Soviet Premier Nikita Kruschev. Many items in the collection were brought back as souvenirs from that journey and other frequent voyages.

CONDITION: All items in overall good condition with minor scattered surface wear and some with light oxidation. Carl-Art brooch with slight surface oxidation. Uncas brooch with hairline to stone measuring 7/8" L. Two forks with small losses to pink enamel decoration. Bird earring missing mate.
