North Carolina paint decorated corner cupboard, attributed to Iredell County. Single piece construction; stepped coved cornice with vertical reeded frieze over 16 panes with molded mullions, double ogee medial molding over two paneled doors, ogee base molding transitioning to large ogee bracket feet with returns. Old painted brown surface with yellow accented concentric circles designs on lower case door panels and stiles, uppercase doors, top and bottom of upper case stiles, and cornice with yellow grain painted accents. Red painted interior with three shaped shelves having plate ledges, lower red painted interior with one shelf. Mortised and pegged doors, brass knob pulls. Primary appears to be walnut, secondary yellow pine. 57" W (cornice) x 105"H x 29"D. First quarter of the 19th century. Provenance: Lexington, Kentucky area collection. Condition: Overall very good condition with minor wear to surface, case with very minor abrasions (cornice edges), minor water damage to backboards in vicinity of left rear foot, a couple of glass panes with cracks to corners, later brass pulls.
