Likely manner of Francis Sydney Muschamp (United Kingdom, 1851-1929) oil on canvas painting depicting a young woman attired in a white Grecian-style gown and pink satin wrap, descending a set of stone garden stairs with a forest in the background. Spuriously signed and dated lower left "Sydney Muschamp M.R.A. 1860." Unframed. 24" H x 16" W. Likely late 19th century.

CONDITION: Canvas has been lined. With scattered retouching to upper-and-center left, largest area under right arm, 2 1/2" x 3/4". Rubbing and minor losses to perimeter, largest 3/8" x 1/4", lower left, plus overall light grime and a few areas of very light craquelure.
