Southern cherry chest of drawers in the original surface. Five graduated dovetailed drawers, tapered feet with an elaborate tri-lobe skirt with center shaped cuts to lobes and notched returns. Paneled sides and back, tongue and groove slats for drawer bottoms, square nails throughout. Yellow pine secondary wood. 54 1/4" x 47"W x 21"D. 1st half of 19th century, prob. North Carolina, ex. Clark Garrett. Provenance – Lexington, Kentucky area collection. Condition: Overall very good condition. Most glass knobs appear to be replacements, missing locks on two top drawers, minor abrasions to case with old varnish surface loss to left side of second drawer, a fade line is visible around the base of the chest (begins about 1/4 below lowest drawer).
