Grouping of three (3) stoneware pottery advertising whiskey jugs including: one (1) jug having Albany slip glazed jug inscribed "J. V. Carothers Pure Lincoln County Whiskey"; one (1) jug having Albany slip glaze inscribed "I was filled at W.W. Alexander's Fayetteville Tenn When I get empty take me back"; and one (1) white slip glazed jug with cobalt stencil reading "FROM PITT & BAGGETT, SPRINGFIELD, TENN. NOTHING NEW BUT THE JUG." Ranging in size from 7 3/4" x 9 1/2" H. All jugs late 19th/early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: The Collection of Richard H. and Kathleen L. Hulan.
CONDITION: 1st jug with vertical spider hairlines that run from the base up through the handle area. 2nd jug missing handle with chips to the rim. 3rd jug with old repaired breaks to the base and overall craquelure to the glaze with some darkening.
