East Tennessee, Greene County blanket chest, walnut primary and yellow pine secondary, rectangular lid with molded edge, exposed dovetails on case and bracket feet and shaped center foot. Interior till with wrought iron strap hinges. 21 1/4" H x 47" W x 18 3/4" D. Late 18th/Early 19th century. Note: Featured in the book "Art & Furniture of East Tennessee" by Namuni Hale Young on page 4, Figure 1. This piece also relates to Figure 291 on page 222 in the book "The Art & Mystery of Tennessee Furniture" by Nathan Harsh and Derita Coleman Williams. CONDITION: Older refinish. Restored side moldings to top of chest. Old repair to spur return on left side. Age crack to left rear foot.
