After Alfred de Dreux (French, 1810-1850) oIl on canvas hunt scene painting depicting two hunters on horseback arriving at a gate, with two hounds at their heels, and darkening clouds overhead. Spurious signature “Alfred D.D.” lower right. Later molded giltwood frame with egg and dart and beaded moldings and plaque with artist’s name, lower center. Sight: 12 in. H x 15 in. W. Frame: 19 n. H x 22 in. W. Late 19th to early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: Private Kentucky estate.
CONDITION: Lined. UV light inspection reveals small repair (about 1/4 in.) at front horse’s shoulder and 1 in. area of retouch to gate. Craquelure throughout, otherwise very good condition.
