Two (2) English School watercolor on paper landscape paintings. 1st item: John McDougal (United Kingdom, 1851-1945) pastoral painting depicting a brick farmhouse behind a low wall, a rooster, and a brood of hens with a wide, partially shaded pathway surrounded by foliage in the foreground beneath an overhanging tree and a clear sky. Signed and dated "John McDougal 1891" lower right. Housed and double-matted under glass in a giltwood frame. Sight: 11 1/2" H x 8 1/2" W. Framed: 17 7/8" H x 14 3/4" W. 2nd item: English School landscape painting depicting a figure in a blue jacket with a walking stick, a child in red pants carrying a pouch, and a frolicking dog walking across open and rocky terrain with a small group of bare trees and boulders to the right and a hazy castle on the horizon in the background beneath a cloudy, grey sky. Illegibly signed lower right. Housed and matted under glass in a molded giltwood frame with foliate accents. Sight: 11 1/8" H x 18 1/2" W. Framed: 24 1/8" H x 31 5/8" W. Probably late 19th/early 20th century.

CONDITION: 1st item: Overall good condition with scattered minor foxing spots and discoloration to paper. Not examined outside of frame. Mat with scattered runs/abrasions. 2nd item: Overall good condition with slight discoloration to paper. Not examined outside of frame. Painting and mat have shifted slightly in frame. Frame with scattered losses to corners, largest measuring 1/4" x 1/2".
