Greene County, TN walnut inlaid chest of drawers. Rectangular top with ogee molding, four graduated drawers, cartouche design line inlay enclosing three diamonds, chamfered corners, shaped apron, French feet. Secondary wood poplar. For a similar inlaid chest from this school, refer to "Art and Mystery of Tennesse Furniture", Harsh & Williams, p. 208, Figure 264. Found in the Bristol, TN area. 47 7/8"H x 41 3/8"W x 17 7/8"D. 1st quarter of the 19th century. Condition: Older refinish, interior drawer supports replaced with most drawer sides built up, sides of case interior have been cut to compensate for shrinkage/warpage, repair to returns of front feet, veneer facings on one side of front feet possibly later, older apron (possibly 19th century replacement). Back feet and blocking to feet appear original.
