Two (2) floral oil on canvas still lifes including Ludwig Jacobsen. 1st item: Ludwig Jacobsen (Denmark, 1890-1957) still life with a vase of pink flowers, a bowl of lemons, and a blue cloth all reflecting on the surface of the table top. Signed "Ludwig Jacobsen" lower left. Illegible inscription, possibly in Dutch, en verso and date. "1923". Housed in a painted frame. Sight: 20 1/2" H x17 3/4" W. Framed: 23 1/2" H x 21 1/4" W. 2nd item: Abstract still life of a vase with tulips on a table rendered with heavy impasto, a technique in which paint is laid on so thickly that the brush or paint-knife strokes are visible, with undiscernible shapes in the background. Unsigned. Inscribed "CP. 78" en verso. Housed in a carved and painted Rococo style frame. Sight:15" W x 19 1/2" H. Framed: 20" W x 24" H. Mid-Late 20th century.
PROVENANCE: The estate of Dr. Thomas Bechtel, Memphis, Tennessee.
