Lot 1177: 4 Antique Tribal Torbas, Yomud, Baluch, & Qashqai

Four (4) antique Tribal Torba or bag weavings, all wool on wool construction, including;  two Turkmen Yomud, or Yomut torbas with guls designs, woven in colors and red, blue, and cream; an antique Afghan Baluch torba with a central medallion design woven in colors of blue, red, and cream; and a Persian Qashqai torba with a central medallion design woven in colors of red, blue, cream, and green. Ranging in size from 2 ft 6 in x 1 ft 11 in to 4 ft 2 in x 2 ft 9 in. All last quarter 19th century.

Private Des Moines, Iowa collection.

CONDITION:

Qaushqai bag with light pile wear, losses to fringe. Baluch bag with areas of moderate wear, fringe loss. Both Yomud torbas overall good condition with losses to the fringe.
